Suzy was born in Surrey and studied art at Brighton Polytechnic, followed by graphic design at Goldsmiths’ College, London, in the late seventies. She has had a career as a graphic designer working in point of sale, advertising and publishing.

Suzy’s passion for painting was rekindled in 2001.  Her travels, firstly to Brazil, Spain and later to South Africa inspired her to paint acrylic and mixed media interpretations of her experiences.

‘The amazing Park Guell in Barcelona designed by Anton Gaudi inspired me to paint an entire series of colourful and bold abstracts. (Gallery 3) I also felt, at this stage, that I needed to introduce surface texture to my work, this led me to further develop these techniques in the exotic fruit collection, inspired by my visit to Cape Town.' The world famous gardens at Hampton Court Palace have provided Suzy with further inspiration for her most recent  highly successful collection entitled ‘Glimpses – Hampton Court Palace Gardens’ (Gallery 1)

                   'I became mesmerised by the gardens and found myself returning again and again to observe different light and seasonal changes, always finding new inspiration,’ explains Suzy. 

Suzy’s ‘glimpses’ of the gardens were recorded in a series of impressive three foot square acrylic and mixed media paintings.  Also included, were smaller but equally effective paintings with the backdrop of the palace.  Her bold approach in using the white space of the canvas combined with her highly developed technique of applying varying grades of sand, added depth, texture and individuality to the collection and added definition to her glimpses.

Motivated by constantly challenging herself with new ideas and techniques in order to grow and develop as an artist, Suzy feels she is on an exciting, enjoyable and continual learning curve!

Suzy has exhibited in Surrey, Sussex and London and has sold work to both corporate and private buyers in the UK, The Netherlands, U.S.A, Israel and Brazil.  There is a permanent collection of her work at Crawley Hospital, W.Sussex and a collection of recently commissioned works at Roband Electronics PLC, Surrey.
