Suzy in her studio

Suzy was born in Surrey and studied art at Brighton Polytechnic, followed by graphic design at Goldsmiths’ College, London, in the late seventies. She has had a career as a graphic designer working in point of sale, advertising and publishing.

Suzy’s passion for painting was rekindled in 2001, since then, she has explored a variety of styles, subjects and materials as a way of maintaining a fresh approach. She considers one theme at a time, working with a highly analytical approach.

Suzy's latest work is a collection of large scale magnified close- ups of flowers and leaves, transferring the subject matter into powerful, sensual works painted in acrylic and mixed media. ‘In this collection, I have  been absorbed by blending colour, creating curves and rhythms to bring the viewer into the paintings.  (Gallery 1)

‘The amazing Park Guell in Barcelona designed by Anton Gaudi inspired me to paint an entire series of colourful and bold abstracts. (Gallery 3) I also felt, at this stage, that I needed to introduce surface texture to my work, this led me to further develop these techniques in the exotic fruit collection, inspired by my visit to Cape Town.' The world famous gardens at Hampton Court Palace  provided Suzy with further inspiration resulting in a  highly successful collection entitled ‘Glimpses – Hampton Court Palace Gardens’ (Gallery 5)

Motivated by constantly challenging herself with new ideas and techniques in order to grow and develop as an artist, Suzy feels she is on an exciting, enjoyable and continual learning curve!

Suzy has exhibited in Surrey, Sussex and London and has sold work to both corporate and private buyers in the UK, The Netherlands, U.S.A, Israel and Brazil.  There is a permanent collection of her work at Crawley Hospital, W.Sussex and a collection of recently commissioned works at Roband Electronics PLC, Surrey.
