This painting is part of a series of works where I have been exploring the key elements of artistic expression.
Line, colour, texture, shape, form, value, and space are the seven core elements of art. They often overlap and inform one another.
In this painting my key objective was to explore the visual effects of grids, inspired by the patterns and textures of mosaics. Each small section is a ‘mini’ painting in itself but form an overall grid like pattern. The colours of this acrylic painting are predominantly cool greens but balanced by contrasting warm browns. Different mark making and brushwork was used in many sections but with some flat or blended colour areas in others.
